What are Battery Operated Taper Candles?
Unlike traditional taper candles that are made out of wax and wick, battery operated taper candles are made out of plastic or glass. These are designed in such a manner that they look like a traditional candle. However, in these candles the flame is replaced by battery operated light. Some battery candles have a beautiful flickering light that actually replicates the movement of natural flame.
You can use candles for indoor as well as outdoor decorations. These candles are often used to decorate houses during Christmas.
Tips for Using Battery Operated Candles
Battery operated candles have no wires. Since they resemble traditional candles, they can be used in candle holders. In addition, the batteries have a long life.
Battery operated or flameless candles would be an ideal alternative to conventional candles on many occasions. These include:
- Parties - as these candles are less likely to be a fire hazard if they are knocked over.
- Enclosed rooms - conventional candles generate smoke leading to make the atmosphere unlikable in an enclosed space. This does not hold true for battery operated taper candles and are thus a good alternative for use in small, enclosed spaces.
- Unsupervised areas - Battery candles need no supervision at all. They can be left unattended for a long period, making them an ideal choice for use at Christmas when they can be 'lit' and placed in windows with no worry of them being a fire hazard.
What Are Battery Operated Yard Light Candles?
Battery operated candles are composed of plastic or acrylic. This makes them hard wearing but not very heavy. Some battery candles have that authentic look as they are made from wax.
On top of the battery operated candle there is a little bulb designed to replicate real candle light. Some candles use a flickering light that gives a very realistic impression of natural candle light.
Types of Yard Light Candles
Battery operated yard light candles are available in many shapes and sizes. Some of the very popular types of yard light candle include:
- Lanterns - Some battery operated yard candles come along with a lantern. Styles range from very traditional through to contemporary styles.
- Large Hurricane Candles - these battery operated candles are designed in a manner that they can be placed on a flat surface around a yard or patio
- Votive Candles - battery operated votive candles are just perfect for putting into yard lights. They have a nice glow and fit into any standard votive candle holder.
Benefits of Battery Candles
While candles are a striking form of lighting and give a wonderful ambiance to a yard, there are certain concerns like:
- Fire hazard - unattended lit candles could be a fire hazard, particularly in dry areas where fires can start easily.
- Dangerous to young children plus pets - real candles can easily get knocked over or brushed against by small children and pets.
- Dependant on weather - bad weather conditions can make burning of real candles in the yard very difficult. Very breezy or windy days, for example, may cause a candle to either blow out or to blow quickly and unevenly. Damp days might stop a candle from burning at all.
All the above concerns can be handled with ease, by using battery candles. They are not a fire hazard, they are safe even if kids and pets are present in the house and they remain lit irrespective of weather conditions.
