Christmas is a time to celebrate and have some fun. It's certainly a festival of lights. The electric lights have added a nice charm to Christmas trees. The trees have turned sparkling and enchanting with electric light strands illuminating them.

A nice thing to note about the Christmas lights is that Christmas lights for the tree and other decorations in the house are available in just about every color in the rainbow. Tiny white lights have a nice, magical effect and go along with any color scheme. The other most common color combinations for Christmas decorations include red, copper and green lights that signify festivity. For a little different outlook, blue and green combinations also look well. For an innovative look, blue and red lights in combination with mauve and copper lights look great.

Mini LED lights are also available in a variety of colors, designs and styles. You can buy full-size ornaments as well. These are usually sold as sets of ten. Some of these sets have more than a bulb per ornament, such as for candy canes that are longer than cherries or flowers.

A wide range of other designs, from poinsettias as well as holly berries to star-shaped Santas and wire meshed snowflakes are also available. With such a wide range of options available, installing Christmas lights has become an art by itself!

Tips for Christmas Light Decoration

• A combination of as many as 5 colors can be nicely used for the coniferous trees, but try not to use more than 3 colors for deciduous trees.
• Opting for a monochromatic scheme while using white lights is best as any other colored light does not exhibit itself well in combination with white.
• The low watt bulbs work really well for strings and indoor light decorations. However, it is recommended to use high watt bulbs for outdoor decorations to make them visible from a distance.
• Before putting it into the socket string, the socket end of the light bulb needs to be dipped in petroleum jelly. This helps prevent corrosion in the socket and later makes it convenient to pull out the bulb from it.
• To ensure safety for children and avoid short circuits, make sure that you cover all connections properly with electrical tape.
• While decorating the Christmas tree, begin from top to bottom and from inside to outside to ensure safety. This also makes your work much easier.
