The Christmas spectacular began in the year 1933 and was presented by Radio City. The Radio city Christmas Spectacular is organized every year. It is a musical stage show with huge and prolific sets, colorful costumes and a big musical band. The show is presented at the Radio City's Music Hall in New York City. The 90-minutes long show performs different singing and dancing shows. It also consists of humorous and traditional scenes in the spectacular stage settings. The best performers of this show are the women's professional dance troupe called The Rockettes. Since the first version was presented in 1933, the show has become a New York Christmas tradition seen by more than a million visitors a year.

The sounds of Christmas, the parade of wooden soldiers, let Christmas shine, the living nativity and the curtain call are the eye catching performances at the Christmas spectacular.

The show receives more than a million visitors each year. The special attractions of the viewers are the well choreographed songs. Some of the famous musical numbers of this show are as follows:

• The Twelve Days of Christmas: It is a beautiful carol on which Santa plays with the music hall curtain.

• The Parade of Wooden Soldiers: This song is everybody's favorite.

• The Nutcracker: This song tells a cherished story of childhood dreams coming true.

• Sleigh Ride: The world famous Rockettes are revealed in this song.

• Santa Flies to New York: This song has special effects of 3-D animation.

• New York at Christmas: In this song, the Rockettes board a double-decker bus for a holiday tour of Manhattan.

• Here comes Santa Claus: This song shows how Santa can be everywhere at once.

• Department Store: In this song, Santa meets a little girl and her mother to find a gift.

• Closer Than You Know: In this song, the little girl and her mother find what they have been looking for.

• Closer Than I Knew: In this song, the mom is reminded that sometimes the best gift of all is right there all along.

• Santa's video game: In this song, the Rockettes take their magical journey to rescue Santa's kidnapped toys. The 3-D effect of this song is worth seeing.

• Let Christmas shine: The Rockettes give the heartfelt message of hope and love in this song. They are joined by the entire company.

• The Living Nativity: This song tells the story of the first Christmas.

• Joy to the World: This is a celebration song for the arrival of happiest season.

The other attractions of the Christmas spectacular are as follows:

• The Roxy Reception: It is a pre-show cocktail party which is held in the Roxy suite of the Radio City Music Hall prior to the Christmas Spectacular.

• VIP Elite Guests: The VIP Elite guests receive the royal treatment. They enjoy the show with complete holiday buffet, sweet treats and an open bar.

• Rockette's Dance Class: You can also participate in one hour dance class taught by Rockette in the Music hall's rehearsal studio.

The Christmas spectacular hits the Radio City Music Hall in New York from 11th November 2011 to 2nd January 2012. This year the show is called as The Rockettes Magical Journey and includes new scenes and songs with a new 3-D experience. This spectacular has inspired and dazzled over 60 million people for more than 75 years and will continue to do the same.
