Christmas tree

The Christmas tree is an age old tradition associated with Christmas. A Christmas tree is a coniferous fir tree with needle pointed leaves. The tree is evergreen. The Christmas tree is available both in natural and artificial types. The real tree can be ordered from online websites, shops and farms. The real tree is available in various types and sizes. The family celebrating the Christmas chooses the tree according to their needs and suitability. Before buying the tree, one has to decide about height of the tree, whether it will be kept indoor or outdoor, what you are going to do with the tree after the festival celebration.

Once you have decided, you can buy a tree of your choice and decorate it. The artificial Christmas tree is made out of plastic. They are available in attractive colors and various sizes. They can be bought from internet websites, shops and retailers. There is a long debate going on whether one should go for a real or artificial Christmas tree. The real tree is the best option as it has no toxic material like lead, which can be fatal for young children. You can buy a real Christmas tree that is small and later after the festival can plant it in your back yard. You can also donate it to the organization that plant them in open spaces and create a green belt. This green belt is a need of hour as global warming is a biggest threat in front of us.

The artificial tree may look good and attractive but it cannot give out the beautiful smell and feel of real tree. The artificial tree is made of plastic that has high levels of lead. The tree does not decompose and it becomes a massive plastic waste. This is not environment friendly and disturbs the ecological balance. There are some people who are of the opinion that cutting trees is hazardous to environment and so they opt for an artificial tree that can be preserved for some years and decorated every year as per the family's choice. Go green is the most important thing in today's world therefore you need to take care of environment.

The Christmas tree has its roots in Germany. The history documents the Christmas tree was first found in the German town of Geismar. The tree is associated with St. Boniface. Later, you can see that Martin Luther King used it as a symbol of Tree of Life grown in Garden of Eden. The tradition of having a Christmas tree can be seen from sixteenth century. Every country has its own tradition about time to bring the tree home, decoration, removing the tree after celebration, motifs used on the tree etc. The earlier decorations were in form of fruits, candles and stars. Today, the decorations have undergone tremendous change.

The traditions are changing, decorations are different and tree may be real or artificial but one thing that is constant is the festive flavor of Christmas.
