The size, shape, color and price differ in each tree and you can go for the one that suits your family. If you buy a real Christmas three then you need to take care of two things: the tree has to be kept hydrated and you need to clean the needles of the tree that keep on falling once it loses its freshness. These real Christmas trees are available in various varieties.

- Fraser Fir: This type of real tree has good fragrance. The needles are somewhat upturned and small in size. Hence, they hold the ornamental decoration well. The tree has a perfect pyramid shape, which makes it popular.
- White Pine: This real tree does not have scent. It is good for people who suffer from allergic reactions. The tree has long needles that are soft so the tree cannot hold heavy ornaments. The needles have bluish green color.
- Balsam Fir: This tree has sweet smell, which is typically associated with Christmas tree. Therefore, the tree is most popular with the people who buy real tree. The needles are flat in shape and have bluish green color.
Artificial Christmas trees were seen as an answer to the growing deforestation. With industrialization, artificial tree were manufactured in different sizes, shapes and colors. They look just like real Christmas trees. The most important thing is that they can be used for two-three years. The artificial trees can be decorated with lights, garlands and ornaments like real trees. Some artificial trees are pre lit. - Fiber Optic Tree: This tree is the latest trend in artificial Christmas trees. These trees are made out of optical fiber. They look really attractive due to the inbuilt lights. Some optical fiber trees are pre lit while others resemble the real tree.
