The old convention of exchanging gifts during Christmas festival is very famous. Whether, it is a party or get together with your relatives, family members and friends, the exchanging of gifts becomes inevitable. A fun way of exchanging these gifts is by asking your guests to bring one gift each. This process to swap the gifts is done in different ways. Below are given few nice ideas for playing Christmas gifts exchange games.

Christmas Gift Exchange Games:

  • White Elephant Gift Exchange: This is the most famous gift exchange game, which is played broadly in Christmas parties during the holiday season. You should ask your guests to place their gifts on a table. You need to assign a number to every gift. Now, you need to pass on a bowl with chits. The chits have number written on it. The person, who obtains the number "1", grabs the gift that carries the one as a number. The guest opens their gifts in front of everybody. Now, the person, who gets the number "2", gets an opportunity to pick a gift of first person. The game continues until all the numbered gifts get dispersed.

  • Passing The Hat: You need to gift-wrap all small presents for all your guests in this game. You also need to write the names of the gifts in papers and then put them inside a hat. Now, you should ask your guests to sit in a circle., surrounding the presents, which are piled up at the center. Now, play background music and then ask one of the guests to begin the game by passing on the hat. Whenever the music stops, the player holding the hat picks a chit from the hat. He/she gets the gift that is written, on the slip. The game continues till all the participants get an opportunity to grab their gifts.

  • The Right-Left Game: In this game also, you need to get gifts wrapped in different colorful papers. Now, you need to ask your guests to sit in a circle, holding their gifts. After this, assign a person for narrating a brief story relevant to Christmas. Once the person narrates the story, gifts are passed on from one person to another. The narrator pauses the story at usual intervals to say the words "right" and "left". When the players listen to "right" word, the gifts should be passed to the right side. When they hear the word "left", the gifts should be the left side. At the end of the story, every guest gets to keep the gift, which is in his possession.

  • Hiding the Gifts: This is one of the popular Christmas games for kids. An exciting way of playing the Christmas gift exchange game at a Christmas party or get together is by hiding the gifts at planned locations across the venue. You can write down the clues for the location of the gifts on paper. Hand out a slip to every family member. You also need to set a time limit, within which everybody needs to find out his or her hidden gift. For adding thrill to this Christmas game, you should formulate the clues in such a way that it takes a series of clues to get somebody to his or her gift.
