"Do they know it's Christmas" was a social cause song for relief of the 1984-1985 famine in Ethiopia. It was written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984. The song was produced by Midge Ure and released by Band Aid. It became the biggest selling single in UK singles chart history also remained Number 1 for five weeks, becoming Christmas Number One.

"Blue Christmas", was the most covered song by different artists. The Christmas song is written by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson depicted the broken heart tale and was recorded by Doye O'Dell in 1948.
