While preparing for the best tastes of Christmas, one can get into the best Christmas mood! It is the holiday season and everyone is in the mood for baking, preparing delicious food and trying out new desserts! But there are some recipes that are classic, old and still are loved by almost every family. A few of them are mentioned below, to make your Christmas a delightful one.

Plum Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of cooking oil
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla
  • 2 boxes of plum baby food
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon

For the glaze effect:

  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • Lemon juice

Directions:

  • Mix the oil and sugar together.
  • Beat this mixture fast and well. Mix the eggs in this batter one by one. Keep mixing it continuously.
  • After a few minutes, add the vanilla and the plum baby food to it.
  • Now add the cloves, cinnamon, and flour into the mixture.
  • Pour this mixture into the baking pan and put it in a pre-heated oven (350 degrees) for one hour.

For Glazing: -

  • Mix the sugar and lemon juice.
  • Pour this on the warm cake and then cut the cake into pieces.
  • Serve the cake slightly warm.

Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake

Ingredients:

  • 1 chocolate crumb piecrust 9 inch
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 packet of caramel
  • 1 cup fudge topping
  • 1 package chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 2 packages cream cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans split.
  • 1 cup milk

Directions:

  • This dish if made with exact ingredients mentioned above serves 12 people.
  • Mix the evaporated milk and the caramels in a pan.
  • Stir this mixture continuously so that no lumps are formed in it and do this for about 5 minutes on low or medium flame.
  • Pour this mixture into the piecrust.
  • Now mix the sour cream milk and cream cheese in a blender. Keep repeating this till the mixture is very smooth.
  • Now add the pudding mix; blend this for 30 seconds.
  • Pour this mixture on the caramel covered piecrust. Cover it evenly.
  • Now put this dish into the fridge and allow it to set.
  • This should be done in 20 minutes!
  • You can decorate the fudge by drizzling the chocolate in a decorative way or by drizzling the remaining pecans.

Peanut Butter Balls

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of chunky peanut butter
  • 3 cups of Rice Crispies
  • 3 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 bar paraffin
  • 1 cup butter
  • 18 oz Chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp of vanilla

Directions:

  • In a pan, melt the peanut butter and the butter. Make sure no lumps are formed.
  • In this mixture, add vanilla and sugar.
  • After this mixture becomes smooth, add the rice crispies and keep stirring with light hands.
  • Start making small balls out of the mixture.
  • Melt the paraffin bar and chocolate in a double boiler.
  • Start dipping the balls in this mixture slowly.
  • Take the cookie sheet and place them in it. The cookie sheet must be covered with waxed paper.
  • Keep this in the freezer for about 7 minutes.
  • Serve it cold.

Frozen Peppermint Cheesecake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wafer chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 1 packet of softened cream cheese
  • 1 can of non evaporated sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups (1 pint) whipping cream
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candy
  • 1 cup margarine or butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Red food coloring, optional

Directions:

  • Mix the margarine, sugar and crumbs.
  • Take a large bowl and start mixing the cheese. Beat it till it is fluffy.
  • Add sweetened condensed milk to the cheese.
  • Add food coloring (optional) and crushed candy.
  • In fold the whipped cream. Pour this mixture in the pan and cover it.
  • Freeze this mixture for 7 hours minimum or till the time it has taken the form of a cake.

Cheese Ball

Ingredients:

  • 2 bunches of green onions
  • Strawberry (fresh or preserved)
  • 1 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • Mayonnaise to make the cheese stick together
  • 1 cup crushed pecans

Directions:

  • To start with, grate the cheese finely. Use a processor if desired.
  • Put the cheese in a bowl and mix mayonnaise in it. This will help the cheese to stay firm.
  • Start making balls out of this mixture. You can make flat balls as well.
  • Coat this with strawberries and refrigerate it till they get firm.
  • Serve cold

There are several tastes of Christmas but nothing can compete with the traditional food which is made at homes for celebrating this festival. All the above mentioned recipes denote the true Christmas spirit and are loved by everyone. They can be made in an easy way and are not very time consuming too. They can serve as best treats for the guests. Some make great desserts as well.
